Rent a car for a day, a weekend or a trip
You are heading to Saly on Friday evening and your car doesn’t fit the family. You have a day of meetings in Thiès on Tuesday. Your vehicle is at the garage for three days. Family is visiting and you need a second vehicle during their stay.
Four different situations and one need: a car of your own for a day or a few days, no agency, no paperwork, and no deposit blocked on a card.
For a trip in town, take a taxi or a ride-hailing car — it is cheaper and faster. We start where they stop: at a full day, and above all as soon as you leave Dakar.
What it replaces
A day outside Dakar
A return trip to Thiès, Mbour, Saly or Lac Rose with a taxi hired for the day means a price negotiated in advance, a driver waiting, and a return time that is no longer quite yours. With a car, you leave when you want, stop where you want, and come back when you are done.
A weekend on the coast
Since the Mbour – Fatick – Kaolack motorway opened on 22 August 2026, the Sine-Saloum has become a Friday-afternoon departure. Much of what you think you know about driving times dates from before that project.
A replacement vehicle
While yours is at the garage, without going through an agency or tying up a deposit on your card.
A second vehicle
When family arrives and the household car is no longer enough.
Some owners offer a weekend package: from Friday 4 pm to Sunday 9 pm, two days charged instead of three. The listings concerned show it.
How it works
The displayed price is a “from” price. A listing covers a model, not a car: under “Citroën C3 in Dakar”, several owners offer theirs, each at their own price. You open the page, compare the units available on your dates — photos, year, pick-up point, security deposit if any — and choose. Over a single day, the pick-up point often matters as much as the price.
Book the day before, at least. It is the only real constraint, and we would rather say it than suffer it. We call the owner to confirm the vehicle is free, then they upload a dated presentation of their vehicle, which we send you before any payment. This takes a few hours. For a Friday-afternoon departure, book on Thursday.
You pay nothing before you have seen it. No amount is due until the presentation has reached you, and you can drop out at no cost at that stage.
You pay 20 % online. Our intermediation fees, by card, Wave or Orange Money. The rent and the security deposit are settled on site, with the owner.
You receive their contact details and agree directly on the time and place of handover.
What sets us apart
Nothing is held on your card
No deposit tied up, no paperwork, no agency counter. The security deposit is optional — many owners don’t ask for one; when there is one, it is set by the owner, shown on the listing, and settled directly with them.
The resident rate
You live in Senegal: create your resident account, and the resident rate of renters who offer one shows by itself. It is not a promotion, it is a status — request it, we call you to verify it, and it then applies to all your car rentals.
You see the car before you pay
With its number plate readable. On a short rental, where you book fast, it is what avoids the nasty surprise on Saturday morning.
In a hurry? Professional listings can be booked right away
A professional commits to their own availability: no verification call, immediate payment. In return, the commitment covers a category — “or similar” — and not a specific vehicle. Both options are on the same results page; you decide what matters on the day.
An insurance requirement
No private owner’s listing is published without a valid category 8 insurance certificate — the one that covers rental. A car lent between acquaintances almost never is; here, it is the condition of entry.
And if you’d rather not drive
For a day of meetings or a business trip, offers with a driver exist: you book a professional carrier’s offer, at a fixed price, confirmed on payment. You work during the journey.
Good to know
Rentals are counted in days.
One day is the minimum. The durations and slots offered are shown on each listing.
Fuel: level noted at departure, same level on return.
The level is recorded on the departure inspection report, and you return the vehicle with the same fuel level. That is the rule, it is simple and it is not negotiable.
One driver only, the one named in the contract.
It is the rule broken most often on a short rental, because people think they will take turns. Handing the wheel to someone else voids the cover.
The inspection report, even for one day.
It is drawn up at departure and on return with the owner. Over twenty-four hours it is tempting to skip it: that is exactly what causes disputes on return. It is the only document that is authoritative on the vehicle’s condition and on damage.
In case of an accident, a report within twenty-four hours.
An amicable accident report or, failing that, a police or gendarmerie report, sent to the owner. Without it, the insurer is entitled to refuse cover.
If the vehicle doesn’t match
At handover, what you were shown — model, category, registration, visible condition unrelated —, you can refuse the rental. Report it to us within two hours of the scheduled handover time, with photos: you are fully refunded and the owner owes you compensation of 30 % of the rental.
If you don’t show up
Without having cancelled and after a one-hour grace period, the amount paid online is kept and we pass half of it to the owner, whose vehicle sat idle.
The cancellation scale
More than seven days before: the amount paid online is fully refunded. Between seven days and 48 hours: it is kept. Less than 48 hours: it is kept and compensation of 30 % of the rental is owed to the owner. It is the scale that weighs most on a short rental, since by definition you book late — check your dates before confirming. Details are in Part III of the terms and conditions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rent for tomorrow?
We cannot commit to it. The process — owner confirmation, then the vehicle’s dated presentation — takes a few hours. Book the day before at the latest; for a weekend, on Thursday.
Can I rent for just a few hours?
No. One day is the minimum. For a trip in town, a taxi or a ride-hailing car will cost you less.
Is fuel included?
No. The level is recorded on the departure inspection report and you return the vehicle with the same fuel level.
Where do I pick up the car?
You agree the place and time directly with the owner, once contact details are exchanged. The vehicle’s neighbourhood is shown on the listing.
Can I leave the region?
Yes, anywhere in Senegal, with no regional limit. Only leaving the country requires the owner’s written consent and a check of the territorial validity of the ECOWAS brown card.
