How it works
Three ways to book, depending on who is renting out the vehicle. With a private owner, there are two exchanges before you pay — the price of a lower rate and of a vehicle you have seen before paying. With a professional, you book and pay straight away.
Renting a private owner’s car
-
1
You choose and send a request
You select a vehicle and your dates, and send your request. Nothing is held and nothing is charged at this stage.
-
2
We check availability
We call the owner. It is their personal car: nobody else can commit to its availability. That is the first exchange.
-
3
The owner shows you the vehicle
You receive a dated presentation less than seven days old, with the number plate visible and the odometer filmed. You can withdraw free of charge at this stage.
-
4
You pay 20% online
20% of the total order amount. The balance is paid to the owner when the keys are handed over.
-
5
The booking is confirmed
Payment confirms the order. You receive the summary and the WhatsApp number for your booking.
-
6
Vehicle handover
Driving licence, ID, balance, and the condition report filmed by both parties. Off you go.
Renting from a professional rental company
The process is shorter and paid online immediately. The professional manages their own fleet and guarantees availability themselves: no availability call, no waiting, no dated presentation. The photographs in their listing, which they keep up to date, are the reference.
What you book is not a car but a category. As with any rental agency: “Toyota RAV4 or similar”. This is stated on the listing, on the summary and on your confirmation — you know it before you pay.
You are renting from a professional, so the legal guarantees owed by a professional rental company apply — which is not the case with a private owner. The fee scale is the same.
Booking a vehicle with a driver
Same process as with a professional: you choose a transport offer published by a listed transport operator, at a fixed price, and the booking is confirmed as soon as you pay. There is no availability call and no consultation of several operators.
The transport operator assigns a vehicle and a driver: they hold the licence, the category 4 insurance with passenger liability cover and their drivers’ professional cards. Their full identity is sent to you when your order is confirmed.
A private individual cannot offer this service: carrying passengers for payment is a regulated activity.
What you pay, and to whom
- 20% when you book
- Online, to us. It is the only amount we collect: our service fees and the commission owed by the owner, paid by you on their behalf.
- The balance at handover
- To the owner or the professional, directly. We never handle the rental price.
- The security deposit, if there is one
- To the owner, on site. Optional, and many owners do not ask for one — deposits are not customary in Senegalese peer-to-peer rental. We do not hold it and we do not decide on its return.
- Fuel, tolls, fines
- At your expense, outside the booking amount. The vehicle is returned with the fuel level recorded at departure.
The resident rate: each renter, private or professional, decides whether to offer one, and how much. The account is verified once, by phone, and the discount then shows automatically — on the vehicle as on the options.
If you cancel, or if things don’t go as planned
As long as you have not paid, there is no booking — and so nothing to cancel. After payment, the conditions depend on the notice given and are set out in Part III of the terms and conditions.
If the owner defaults — absent, vehicle unavailable or not as described — you are refunded and they owe you compensation. In the event of force majeure, everything is refunded and nobody owes anybody anything.
What sets us apart
You see before you pay
With a private owner, you receive a dated presentation less than seven days old, number plate visible, before a single franc is committed. And you can withdraw free of charge at this stage.
Nothing is held on your card
The security deposit, when there is one, is paid on site to the owner. Whereas an agency ties up several hundred thousand francs for your whole stay.
A non-negotiable requirement upfront
No listing is published without a valid category 8 insurance certificate — the category that covers renting to a third party.
